Join us for collaborative community gathering with song, sound, and soup.
Mele, of Mama White Lion will take us on a 2-hour ceremonial song journey to celebrate the crossing of the threshold of Beltane.
Come gather in circle for an evening of grounding, connection, voice and song as we honour the turning of the season and deepen our community weaving.
Together we’ll move through a gentle ceremonial journey including
Grounding meditation — arriving fully in the body and the present moment
Voice activation — opening the voice and connecting with its natural expression
Shared song & rhythm — exploring traditional and intuitive songs together
Song sharing — space to offer and receive songs within the circle
Somatic integration — grounding the experience through the body
Nourishing soup — sharing food and connection as we gently close the circle
No musical experience is needed — just come as you are, with a willingness to listen, participate and explore.

Dream a Little Dream - a concert by Cygnet Singers
Dream a Little Dream is the Cygnet Singers' last concert of the year and will transport you to all your favourite places. Each song has a connection to a dream, whether it be dreaming of travel to a distant country, dreaming of a lost love, or dreaming of home.
There are songs spanning many centuries. The oldest was written in the 1500’s; there are songs from musicals and quite recent popular hits.
Come along, bring your friends, and enjoy yourself.
The doors will open at 1:30 pm. Tickets are $15. Children’s admission is a gold coin.
There will be afternoon tea at the end of the concert and the opportunity to meet and talk to choir members.

90 years of CWA Cygnet… and we’re bringing back a little bit of history!
1936 was a pretty special year for Cygnet.
It was the year our CWA Branch was established, and 90 years later, we’re getting ready to celebrate in true country style!
We’ve got LOTS of activities, competitions, entertainment and good old-fashioned fun planned for our 90th Birthday Celebrations, and over the coming weeks we’ll be revealing what’s in store.
But first, we’re kicking things off by bringing back a little bit of tradition…

This year, the Cygnet Folk Festival Feast takes on a touch of glamour.

Community Fire Planning - Wattle Grove Fire Brigade
For residents of Silver Hill, Wattle Grove, Lower Wattle Grove, Sunday Hill, Petcheys Bay, Beaupre Point, Forsters Rivulet and Lymington and anyone interested.
Come along to the Wattle Grove Fire Brigade to prepare for the fire season. We will be sharing information, talking preparedness, and meeting our neighbours to ensure our community is connected, resilient, and aware.

Van Diemen's Band – La Follia
Join VDB for a program based on one of the oldest and most famous musical themes in Western classical music.
Originating on the Iberian peninsula sometime in the late 15th century, the iconic "follia" theme has inspired artists from JS Bach to Britney Spears.
Composers used the repeating bass line to build increasingly wild, virtuosic variations that showcased extreme emotional changes and became a vehicle for exploring musical chaos and intensity.
This concert features works by Vivaldi, Marais, Guignon, Ortiz and more, performed by some of Australia's foremost early music practitioners on gut strings and instruments of the past.
Join the artists after the concert for a closer look at some of our rare instruments, including the VDB harpsichord with interior artwork by Cygnet-based artist Deborah Wace, and our Baroque triple harp.

Writing Weird History - an interactive workshop
Hi Poets and Writerly Folk!
Join Jane Rawson, Fiction Editor for Island, for an interactive workshop on making your historical fiction project a bit – or a lot – stranger.
Whether you’re writing a novel set in the jazz bars of 1930s New York, a short story that takes place in an Industrial Revolution cotton mill, or a multi-generational epic based on the lives of your own ancestors, there’s always room to make things weirder.
In this workshop we’ll look at how you can divert your historical fiction down back alleys or infect it with a little magic.
This is a hands-on workshop with thinking and writing exercises, but if you don’t want to read your work out loud you won’t have to.
Participants will:
look at some ways established writers have combined research and fantasy
consider the ethics of rewriting history
discuss how to choose a tweak that makes sense for their own historical fiction
develop strategies and techniques for building believable alternative worlds
try some tricks with voice and see what it does to ideas about authenticity.
This workshop is suitable for emerging writers, or established writers who want to try something different.
The workshop will be 1pm - 3pm (followed by refreshments and an optional Q&A til 4pm), in The Supper Room, upstairs at Cygnet Townhall.
This is the final session in a series of 3 free writers workshops presented by the Cygnet Community Arts Council. Each session has been facilitated by a literary artist, local to the Huon Valley: a professional poet, a published novelist and non-fiction writer.

9 x 5 Art & Wearable Jewellery Competition and Exhibition
HAEG invites artists to participate in our 9 × 5 Art and Wearable Jewellery Exhibition, running from 3 October to 18 October 2026.
The original and iconic 9 by 5 Impression Exhibition of 1889 featured works by Victorian Artists Society painters Arthur Streeton, Tom Roberts, and Charles Conder, who famously painted on cigar box lids measuring 9 × 5 inches. This exhibition celebrates that tradition while providing a contemporary platform for both visual art and wearable jewellery.
The jewellery category of this competition and exhibition is open theme. Submissions are welcome in any genre, style, or material.

Shoreline – The Threshold of Change
Cygnet Community Arts Council, CCAC are hosting Shoreline - The Threshold of Change this coming September.
It will be an amazing experience. So many talented passionate artists, and creatives coming together to celebrate our extraordinary coastline. Underwater videography by Ruth Lindsell will immerse you into a deep sensory experience. Music, poetry, song, story and guardianship all come together on the Spring Equinox here at the Cygnet Townhall. Get your tickets through Humanitix and celebrate The Threshold of Change with our Community.
We as a community of artists have co-created a unique event to share our love and respect for the Southern Shoreline.
After all of the protests and many environmental challenges our precious waterways are experiencing we invite you to join us for a special afternoon. Housed inside an exhibition of paintings, sculptures, jewellery and many other art forms we will also share original songs, poetry, instrumental works, stories and simple ceremony to honour and express our gratitude for these unique waterways. The first half of the event will be an experiential journey of performance arts, followed by an interval where local foods will be served. The second half will offer presentations by environmental guardians who support our shoreline in practical and significant ways.
We intend for this to be an all senses immersion in the arts and sciences that are born of our love for the land and the waters of Tasmania and for our precious planet.

Spring in the Valley Bush Dance
Dust off your dancing shoes and come celebrate Spring in all its glory at the Cygnet Town Hall Bush Dance!
If you’ve been to one of our previous dances, you’ll know what a fun-filled night it is. If not, now’s your chance! Music and dancing are provided by local folk legend Ross Smithard and his band Up Jumped Trouble, with some cracking old-time fiddle tunes and swinging dances. Ross will also be calling the dances, so no experience or partner is necessary. Bush dances are notoriously supportive and friendly — you’ll always find someone willing to dance with you!
The young people from The Yeehaw Cake & Curry Stall will be joining us again, selling hot food, snacks and drinks, with gluten free and vegetarian options available. Tables will be set up, so feel free to bring your own refreshments too.

Southside Steppers at the Port Cygnet Cannery
THE SOUTHSIDE STEPPERS ARE COMING BACK TO THE CANNERY!
We are ridiculously excited to welcome The Southside Steppers back to Port Cygnet Cannery for our September Cannery Common.
If you’ve seen them before, you’ll know this is not a sit-in-the-corner-and-play-some-background-music kind of band.
Think street party, brass, percussion, funk, soul, R&B, plenty of groove and a band that can get up and move through the crowd and take the party with them.
They are fun and they are loud!
The Steppers have become favourites at festivals and events around Tasmania, and after having them at the Cannery before, we knew we had to get them back.
We’ll have the wood-fired pizza oven going, the bar open, plenty of food and drinks, space for the kids, lawn games, the pool table and hopefully a whole lot of dancing.
Bring the kids. Bring your friends. Bring the dogs. Grab a table or find yourself a spot on the lawn.
Open from 4:00 pm with live music from 6:00 pm.

Launch of the Little Swans Playgroup
Join us for our first playgroup session and launch of the Little Swans Playgroup. Our playgroup is aimed at 0-3 year old babies & toddlers in the Cygnet and greater Huon area.
Little Swans Playgroup is registered and supported by Playgroups Tasmania and is a safe place for children and their families to play and connect.

Annual General Meeting - The Cygnet Association
The Annual General Meeting of The Cygnet Association will be held on 2 September 2026 at 7 pm in the Supper Room, Cygnet Town Hall.
Minor amendments to the constitution will be proposed, to comply with ATO requirements.
All committee positions will be open and nominations are welcome.
The AGM will be followed by a presentation from our guest speaker, Paul Sutton, who will provide us with a lively discussion on the future of the financial value of the natural environment.
Everyone is warmly welcomed. Members are urged to attend this important event.
